About my Journey

In 2001 I had a hysterectomy.  While it was a difficult decision, I felt I had put it off long enough.  What was amazing was that right after the surgery I noticed that pain I didn’t even know I had, had stopped.  During one of my follow-up visits, the doctor told me the endometriosis was the worst case he had ever seen.  He had to take everything out of my uterus and stomach area, laid it on the table, and scraped the endometriosis off.  I laughed and asked him if he had put everything back in its proper place.  He took the question with good humor saying that he was a good surgeon.  I valued everything he had done for me since the pain had stopped; yet, my body just didn’t feel quite right and my nightmare was just beginning.

Suddenly a few months after the surgery I found myself with some kind of virus or bacteria that constantly made me throw up, particularly in the morning.  I would throw up for two or three hours and then like the flicking of a light switch, I would be fine although depleted of energy.  I was told it was something that I probably picked up in the hospital—maybe something from Desert Storm.  I’m grateful to the medical community for what they did for me as they attempted to help me, but they didn’t know where to send me or what to do.  I was told that because I was throwing up so much I had little holes in the lining of my stomach which allowed tiny particles of food to get into my blood stream.  This brought on all kinds of trouble in my body and my autoimmune system.

My next approach was to go through the alternative healthcare route.  I started feeling better--a six on a scale of one to ten—even though it was a slow process.  I would start to feel better and someone would come along with the flu or some other illness and naturally I would get it but much worse.  Finally, the medical community told me that I had allergies, asthma, diabetes and a number of other problems.

I remember saying to my alternative doctor that I didn’t understand what was going on in my body.  It seemed to me like I was taking five steps forward and three steps back.  Her response to this comment was that I should pay attention to my words.  I was astounded when I realized that I was creating my sickness.  I had gotten used to being ill, to being on the roller coaster of constant illness and to existing as a sick person.  Sickness was my friend.

At that moment in time, I said six years was long enough, I was done with all of the illnesses and that I was healed.  Interesting enough, when I said that about a month later I saw a flyer for a class called ThetaHealing.  I decided to take the class to see if it would help me on my healing journey.  Sure enough, I found what I needed to take my healing the rest of the way.  It has been an amazing journey, the rest of which I would love to share with you.
